Yes. But you already knew that. What your question should be, is whether you should press charges, and/or file a restraining order against him. You should probably do both.
However, my impression is that you will probably do neither.
My chosen field is medicine not law. I would make these few observations -
If the medications were prescribed solely for you, they belonged to you. If somebody takes your property from you without your permission, in most countries, that is theft.
If the above mentioned medicine that was removed from you is used by you to preserve and assist your life, then removing it from your possession on purpose to deny you the use of that medication is, I would guess, an attempt on your life.
Depending upon your relationship with your ex husband, you are left with two choices.
Say nothing, and obtain some more medication.
OR
Contact the law enforcement department and make a formal complaint / charge against your ex husband.
It would be a point in your favour, if there was a witness to this event that would be able to be used to back up your statement.

I have to agree with matador 89’s answer. You could either do nothing about it and get more medication (And risk another bad encounter with this man) Or you can contact your local law enforcement (police!!)
I highly suggest contacting the police. If you need this medication to assist living, and your ex knew that - then he was obviously trying to seriously harm you!! You should not let him get away with such abuse.

Call your local Pharmacist at home for refill of insulin, or phy. on call for your pcp who can authorize a new script by calling one to walmart for you to pickup depending on the size of city and how well you are known to the medical community. I live in a town of 6,500 and 2 Sundays in a row I had to call my local pharmacist to fill scripts for dtr. getting out of hospital and also this summer when I got out of hospital 100 miles from home. i dont know but its still bad. u need to get a restraining order against him! without ur insulin and other stuff u could have been in serious danger.

Possible not for throwing away medication, but for assault on your person, certainly. Make a formal complaint to the cops.
