My son’s biological father abandoned him. Can I find a pro bono lawyer in IN to handle my soon to be husband?

adopting my son? It is quite pricey for a private lawyer, and I am scared the sperm donor may contest the adoption and this would end up costing much more money. It is not my fault he abandoned him and I am just trying to make things right. Thanks for any input you may have!!!
My son has his last name, so anything legal like the doctor, school or any other institution calls him by his legal last name- not my husbands. This may not be a BIG deal to some, but unless you have been in this situation or really know what you are talking about I would appreciate your silence. My son does not remember this man so it will be a big deal when he begins to ask why his last name is different than everyone else’s. I have contacted several lawyers and if the donor contests the adoption it could cost over $5,000 in attorney, court and filing fees. I feel if a man abandons a child, he should have to foot the bill to make it right!!! Could we possibly all agree on that:)

My husband was arreted 6 months ago for kidnapping, assault, robbery, sexual penetraion with foreign obj. he has already declared himself not guilty for all and the procecuter might drop the kidnapping charge soon. but his public defender is already telling us he will have to plea guilty to the other stuff and will do alot of time in prison, I don’t have any money for a private lawyer and can’t stand our public defender so I need help my husband has never ever been arrested before this..

can a felon be a witness for someone else in legal matters in civil court?

I attended an event that was held in a stadium which had a bunch of restaurants located all around inside. So I went to go get a beer and was denied alcohol. I showed my drivers license but all the manager kept saying is that I didn’t appear to be over 21 although I showed them a valid drivers license. I can go fight in Iraq but I can’t come home and purchase beer in the US with a valid ID? Are you kidding me? That’s just stupid!

Is it true that certain organizations of the US government can strip individuals of constitutional rights?

My Culinary Arts teacher once told us that either the CDC or FDA (I can’t remember which) was the only part of the federal governemnt that can override the president without the 2/3 vote of the Congress OR the approval of the supreme court, and it can also strip an individual of his or her constitutional rights. Is this true?

My ex husband moved out of state many years ago(after refusing to allow me to move out of state for financial reasons). At the time, I had an attorney. I clearly recall my attorney stating that there is a law(or a case law) that states if one party moves out of state, they are resposible for transportation to and from New Jersey unless the other party agrees to meet them outside the state. Unfortunately, my ex has been in and out of the children’s lives over the years and when we went to court last, we got a new judge who is not familiar with all the details and I did not have an attorney. When I objected to driving 2 1/2 hours one way for pickup and drop-off(my ex claimed it was 1/2 way though it takes 3 hours to get to his home as since then I have driven it) on the grounds that I had not left the state, the judge asked for the case or law that falls under. As I did not know, he went ahead with my ex’s plan with my objection noted.

At this point, the place has changed to somewhere closer(now I only drive an hour and 1/2) but he is consistently at least half hour late but more times it’s more like an hour or more. He does not leave early enough to be on time and complains that he doesn’t want to. I would like to know if anyone knows the New Jersey case law or law in which this exists as I have had enough. I work too many hours and have a very bad back. Spending 8-10 hours every other weekend on the road is causing me a great deal of pain and taking time away from the things I need to run my household smoothly.

At least if I know the case/law, I can go forward. Thank you.

I am majoring in Political science with a minor in Criminal Justice for my undergrad, and then want to go on to Law school. I don’t want to be a trial lawyer because I don’t want to spend all my time in a courtroom. What are my options?

I live in South Carolina & need a lawyer who specializes in ESTATE PLANNING but can speak Chinese too, preferably Cantonese. I know there are lawyers in New York and California who speak Chinese but I need a lawyer who is also licensed in South Carolina. I’ve been searching and found a laywer in New Jersey who also is licensed in New York and Florida but he can’t help me. Any information can help me search better or if you know of a lawyer who can do so. Thanks!
